Abstract
Multicast transmission has long been studied along with its evolved standards, but few work provides comprehensive comparisons to Long Term Evolution (LTE) unicast transmissions. With focus on LTE Multicast Broadcast Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) technology, we analyze the impact of Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) on unicast, which plays an important role in LTE, and the impacts of corresponding multiple antenna configurations on MBSFN. Using our cuttingedge system level simulator with detailed modeling of MBSFNspecific features, the performance of throughput and file transfer time are scrutinized. To our knowledge, this work is the first of its kind with such considerations. The observed performance in MBSFN deployment is carefully examined and clarified. The results provide a profound analysis of MBSFN performance and serve as an informative guideline for the multicast deployment.Proceedings Title
